i was extremely dismayed to read this… after chatting with a few of my Australian callers, i now downright alarmed! i have always thought of Australia as a free country, censoring adult sites is censorship, next thing they will be making everyone wear panties all the time!
Australia trials national net filters

Is the Rudd government about to erect a Great Firewall ofAustralia – introducing a form of internet censorship that will infringe upon the freedom of computer users to browse the worldwide web?
That is the concern of online civil liberties groups, as the Rudd government prepares plans for a field trial of internet service provider (ISP) filtering products, with a view to introducing them nationally
of course men there will be able to use proxies, but then that just creates a whole new host of issues! i truly hope the government there gives up this silly waste of taxpayer dollars… if the government is so concerned about protecting children from the evils of the internet – they should fine and jail parents who fail to properly supervise their children.

This is bad for many reasons not least is that if you opt out ( a poor terminolgy ) you will not actually be able to not have the filter you just get put on a list that say “Pe##opxxle!!”. The Moral 2 will vote this through and 20 million Australians will suffer.
